Careful What you Wish for

 

I'm extremely proud of Prime Minster Mark Carney and of Canada in general. A lot of Americans are.

Carney has been planning for a final rupture of trade relations with the Trump Administration for quite a while. So, when Canada's sovereignty was threatened and the break did take place, Carney began the pivot toward Europe and Asia.

Still, these things take time. But the wheels are in motion, and the US was caught off guard.

Regardless, it's high time Canada broke away from the US and diversified its portfolio of trading partners.

This rupture just sped up the process. All good things come to an end.

Marching to Nazi Land

Trump continues his relentless march to a police state.

The most recent unwanted incursion by a Texas oil exploration company into Greenland's sovereign territory reminded me of Germany's 1939 invention of a "border incident" to give Germany a reason to invade Poland.

Trump wants to acquire territory - a lot of it.

Like Hitler, Trump's misappropriation of public funds for his own personal gain has been breathtaking. From a myriad of questionable slush funds to the largest military budget request in modern history, his is the most corrupt administration ever. 

There is no accountability. He's fired the watchdog agency personnel who might have brought him to heel. And a Republican dominated congress turns a blind eye.

Just how long can we tolerate this?
